Hi Chuck,
Haven't seen your name around here in quite some time! Here's some
recommended reading I put together:
http://www.groupstudy.com/archives/cisco/200708/msg00923.html
As was mentioned, the Cert Guide was just revved to map to the current exam
content. I haven't read it yet but it's sitting right here on my desk.
Looks like it maps to the exam content much better than the last version,
but it still just strikes me as light on some content (it's in fact quite a
bit thinner than the last version). So I would definitely recommend that
you have a read of some of the other books I mention in the above. Also,
please consider contacting your test center to ensure that they have at
least 15" and preferably 17" monitors. You will be reading lots of embedded
text inside of network topology drawings. Rendered on a 13" screen they are
all but illegible. Cisco's official position is that they have no say nor
have any policy regarding monitor size for this exam. Thus, if you waltz
into a test center with old monitors, go ahead and write off probably a
substantial number of points.
You may also wish to have a read of some recent threads regarding R&S
written over on the Professional board. I would say that the consensus is
that the blueprint isn't worth the paper it isn't printed on...
Regards,
Scott

Subject: RE: Written exam - R&S recert
My lab study is hopefully a thing of the past! I need to take the exam
to maintain my R&S IE. I've taken the security written the last 2 times
to recert, thinking about the R&S this time (getting back to my roots, I
guess :) I've got 3 months to do it. Most of the stuff shouldn't be
too bad, but then again it's been 7 years since I took the R&S written.
I assume SOME things have changed, like the wireless, etc...
Thanks,

If you are in 3-4 months of your LAB study, you are pretty close to
written; I would say (80% close).
Rest you can try CCIE exam guide 3rd edition, recently published.

Hey all,
Anyone taken the recert test lately for R&S? Does it follow the
blueprint pretty closely? What's the recommended studying material
these days?
Thanks,
Chuck
