Subject: Thank you from CCIE #19310
Folks:
It is been a VERY long journey, but I finally tamed the beast November
9th in San Jose and became CCIE #19310. I would first like to thank God
for the perseverance to keep going when I wanted to bail many times over
and giving me the strength to stay on course. Next, I would like to
thank my wife for her support. As many on here realize, the path of
becoming a CCIE can take away a lot of family time, so support at home
is critical!
For written study materials, I used Internetwork Expert's workbook and
highly recommend them. When I first purchased them years back, I
quickly realized that I had a long way to go, but they definately helped
me formulate a plan and identify my knowledge gaps!
To Scott Morris and Narbik Kocharians, a very special "thank you" for
all the help you have given me including bootcamps, guidance, and
putting up with my ridiculous questions at times! Folks, these two guys
are grade A and I cannot recommend their products any higher. If either
of you are in my area, drop me a line and drinks are on me!
To the current candidates (I know it sounds cliche), stick with it.
My only advice is to make a plan, practice every scenario you can think
of, and get enough rack time to make your fingers bleed. Learn debugs
and how to answer a question different ways. When you know 98% of the
commands in your sleep, you know you are there! Any of the major vendor
(IPExpert, Internetwork Expert, Net-Workbooks) are excellent and will
give you the information you need to pass with enough practice. Just
remember that no workbook, bootcamp, tutor, $$$$ of equipment, whatever
will get you a passing score without enough practice on your part! There
is no substitute!
Best of luck to the candidates out there, and please feel free to
shoot me a note if you have questions!
Bobby
CCIE #19310!
