Question about service compress-config

Doing a practice lab and found that my 3550's will not support service
compress-config:

CAT1(config)#service compress-config

Boot ROMs do not support NVRAM compression.

Disabling service compress-config.

CAT1(config)#

But the solution has it in the config. Is this an error?

I am running c3550-ipservicesk9-mz.122-25.SED on both of them.
