The reflector port should NOT be the active trunk...

If you choose a live port (any live port) it will be put down to use its
asic for the span copy operation.

So you need to choose a port that is NOT being used for the reflector port.
I usually use goofy G0/1

Subject: RSPAN makes trunk go down

Hi,

I am trying to configure the lab RSPAN of IE vol1 part 1 page 163.

Before configuring RSPAN, the trunk works :

    ccieSW1(config)#do sh int tru
Port Mode Encapsulation Status Native vlan
    Fa0/13 desirable n-isl trunking 1

But as soon as I type the command "monitor session 1 destination remote
vlan 100 reflector-port FA0/13" on SW1
the "show int trunk" becomes empty : no trunk anymore.

Does anybody have a clue why it goes down ?

Thanks,
Navid
