A test meant to be similar to real world scenarios could definitely use
backbone or black box routers that you need to talk to, based on some
requirements. Think about peering with an ISP, or setting up a partner
extranet. You have no control over the device at the far end, but you
need to set up your router to peer based on the information provided by
the ISP or partner.
