Hi there,
i'm looking for documents on cisco's queueing architecture and design.
I have found this general document on policy-map's and hardware queues.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk543/tk760/technologies_tech_note09186a0080108e2d.shtml
It says it's a general description but i have a little doubt if it's the same for all routers and switches from cisco.
Isn't it dependant on the model what is done in hardware and what in software? Or is a policy-map always
in software?
For example i know these different hardware queues on 6500'er linecards, with thresholds and hardwarequeues.
They will be configured with srr-queue or wrr-queue.
Is there a document with informations on what is done in hardware and what in software? Can i always say that a policy-map
is done in software?
What are the architecture limits regarding cpu power for software queueing on each platform?
Thanks,
Frank
