set interface loopback

Hello,

I am trying to understand what a router does when PRB has been enabled
with a route-map that has "set interface loopback 0".

We ask the router to use the outbound interface loopback0 for some packets.

But loopback0 is a logical interface, it is not connected to anything !
The router will have to use a physical interface to send the packet
somewhere.

So what do we want to achieve, when we write "set interface loopback 0" ?

Thanks,
Navid
