RE: Trunk mode under port-channel

It is my understanding that once you've bundled a number of physical ports
into a channel-group - all subsequent commands should really be
added/removed under the logical port-channel interface. The physical ports
will inherit these commands automatically.

I suppose one exception to this rule is when building L3 etherchannels - the
'no switchport' command is added to the physical ports - and then I
personally re-do it again under the logical port-channel interface.

Lastly - my personal habit is to make sure all the physical ports joining
the channel-group are shutdown first - do all my configuration and then
finally enable the physical ports when finished.

Subject: Trunk mode under port-channel

Hi GS

If I have three switch ports and want to bundle them under group 1 for
example, is it required to configure the port-channel to be in trunk mode
also, or only the group members?

regards,
