RE: 2811 as a mgcp gateway in ccm4.1 registration issue

MGCP is strongly dependant on hostname and domain name, it is the piece of information that the call agent is using to make sure the registering gateway is an approved one.

Without it, any gateway could register to your call manager, if it has ip connectivity to it. Call manager has no knowledge of the gateway's ip address (before it registers), only about the gateway's hostname.

Practically, the hostname (or the fqdn if you configured a domain name) is part of the endpoint identifier and that is how the call manager to gateway matching is achieved.

Very helpful Avner, thanks heaps.

Question:
I've observed another thing abt MGCP. Why does it depends on the router's
hostname?
If I change my router hostname, CCM immediately de-register the gateway.
