I have a problem about proxy arp and ODR when doing the netmaster lab.
There is an ethernet connection between a router R3 and another router FRS.
The router R3 is the hub and FRS is a spoke router.
I configured ODR in R3, and R3 can learn the routes from FRS. And the router
FRS can also learn the default route from R3. Everything works normally.
But there is a requirement in the lab that the default route should not
appear in the routing table of any router. The answer of the lab said that
after turned off ip routing of FRS, the router will then use proxy-arp to
reach other networks.
But what I found is that the solution does not work. I turned on debug arp,
and did not see FRS to ask for the MAC address for networks other than the
local subnet. Proxy arp was enabled in the ethernet of R3. Did I miss
anything ?
I found that some people also had this problem and asked before, but seems
no one had an answer.
