I agreed with Mr. Brad,
They need more test sites... I love California, but 1/2 of the people in
America live between Chicago-Boston-NY-DC (in a triangle). NY, OH, PA, IL,
NJ and MA alone have 100 Million people. That is not cool to have no testing
center in that megalopolis...
Cisco is basically saying they are Sh*t cheap with the CCIE program... They
can pay Kiss to play Networkers!!!! And they can't employ two CCIE proctors
at Their NYC PENN PLAZA OFFICE... (3 subways stop's from my house!!!!)
LOL

I personally could learn to live with 90 days. I would likely abandon
pursuit of the CCIE altogether and get back into the business of working for
a living if it were 180 days. I'm not sure I would even keep the one date I
already have booked, although I might.
Interesting thoughts on how the "real test" sites would react. I'd also
wager that their business would pick up markedly, as the consequences of
failure would be higher than some would be willing to risk. Better to take
the "appropriate" steps to ensure 80 points in the minds of some, no
doubt...

Brad,
All very valued points for going to a longer retry interval.
I think the "real test sites" would just get more people involved for
testing the CCIE lab exam to get around the six month issue.
I agree the backlog would get better but it would also get better if Cisco
invested more $$$ into additional pods for some of the other CCIE tracks
besides R&S. Let's face it that ONE security rack per day available in RTP
is what is causing the backlog to begin with in this incident.
I totally agree with it helping with the never ending story of "I will keep
taking the exam until I pass" routine.
I personally think that changing the retake policy to 90 days instead of 6
months would work just as well.
But this is all just rumor anyway for now ...
Later.

It might suck, but that would definitely solve a bunch of problems:
1) It would make it much harder for those "real test sites" to get updates
2) The backlog wouldnbt be so bad - there would be a lot more seats
available
3) People would stop using the "take the test every 30 days until I pass"
technique. I know a few folks who have taken the lab like that 8 or more
times until they pass. (This method gives a high percentage of "same lab"
possibilities.)

I've heard that Cisco may change their re-take policy from 30 days to 6
months for failed tests...but just rumors so far.

Right now, I think they could charge twice that and still fill up their
seats.
