Hi Lora,
We'll, may I suggest that you join over at http://7200emu.hacki.at and let
the developers know that you are interested in this. The admins/moderators
over there are the developers of Dynamips and Dynagen. If they perceive
that something such as ISL support is desired by more than just one or two
people, they're more likely to integrate it. Honestly, it seems there is
some surprise on their part that it doesn't work on all Ethernet
interfaces/modules. Seems as though you and I are among the few to have
insisted on ISL where ISL is called for (rather than just going dot1q, as
you say).
Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,
Thanks for support. ISL is working the way you told me, but I need to do
dot1q trunking between switch and switch (e.g. switch module and real
switch)...Eventually I am going to find some workaround, but it seems that
everyone is running that dot1q trunking except me:)
BR,
Lora

Hi Lora,
Make sure you have the latest release of Dynamips and Dynagen (easiest thing
to do is go to www.dynagen.org and follow the download link to the
SourceForge site). Then populate your router with the NM-1FE-TX. This is
the only module I have found that will support ISL and ONLY if you have the
latest release loaded. I have been talking to the developers on the Hacki
site about support for the built-in Ethernet ports of the 3700 series.
Perhaps we'll see ISL support added for those in RC2...
Regards,
Scott

Subject: dynamips trunking to real networks
Hi everyone,
I am trying to put my lab for R&S with dynamips and windows. And, I
simply cannot make the trunking between the virtual and the real part of
my network. I have tried everything - the switches built-in the
dynamips, switch modules in 3640, 2735 and even 7200. I have upgraded to
the latest win pcap available, but still with no success. Without dot1q
encapsulation everything is OK, but I need itL
Has anyone faced such problems?
Any help will be appreciated:
Win XP , dynamips ver 0.2.7 , winpcap 4.1 beta.
Thanks in advance,
Lora
