Hi Tony,
That is doable, have done it before for a customer. Back then it was an 1760v with two dual port bri vic cards, so it allowed 8 simultaneous calls. But your req will only need one dual port vic, since every port can support two calls.
H323 and srst require special config, turning on mgcp will not make them work in it's absence (if thats what you were asking).
Add the gateway as h323 to call manager and it should work.\
HTH,

Subject: CCM's BRI config as H323 gateway
Importance: Low
Hi GS,
Since we are realising that analog voice ports (FXO & FSX) are prone to
answering & disconnect hanging issues , I am just trying to deploy Digital /
BRI trunks at some of our small customer sites who have 1 or 2 PSTN phones &
key systems.
And then add those BRI trunks can be added to CCM as MGCP gateways and that
design should work. But unfortunately since our 4.0.x CCM version do not
support BRI interfaces as MGCP gateways. Thus , I am planning to add BRI
interfaces as a H323 gateways instead. And I think we can do that with our
current 4.0x version.
Is this possible ? I appreciate some feedback on this from some who has done
it already or knows how to put together.
My limited IP tel understanding tells me that , any SRST enabled MGCP
gateway will automatically turns or behaves like an H323 gateway as soon as
she looses IP connectivity to CCM. That said , do I really need any other
H323 specific config for my BRI interface ?
And from CCM , instead of adding the IOS gateway as MGCP , we can simply
associate her as a H323 gateway , right ??
And also , even if we can make this design work, how about the capacity ? I
mean to replace a 4 x port FXO trunk int card , I should able to locate a 4
x port BRI NM module. But I have not seen one yet though where a BRI NM
module can carry 4 x calls simultaneously just like 4 x port FXO card.
thanks for your valuable input.
tony
