Hey Joe,

I always appreciate (and heed) advice given by those who have gone before
me...

Thanks as always,

Scott

Scott, given the mindless often bad examples in the DocCD, I decided long
ago it was written the express purpose of the CCIE lab. It does not give you
much help unless you already know the technology.

Of course I can't go into specifics, but I bombed on something in the real
lab, came home and figured it out. Then compared the way it worked to the
doc cd. You would not have liked their example one bit.

Be prepared to take the lab, without the doc cd. Use debugs instead.

-Joe

Gary,

I have been using the DocCD almost exclusively since switching from written
to lab studies. I make it a point to read what the DocCD has to say before
beginning any kind of lab work. Thus, sometimes 10 pages of labs takes me
an entire day. I do not use Google or any of that. I poke around until I
find what I'm after and I do not give up under any circumstances. Honestly,
sometimes, it doesn't seem to make any sense where Cisco has stashed certain
things. After a little better than a month of studies now, I am just
beginning to feel as though I know my way around. Of course, I haven't done
any switching labs for a few weeks now and I've already forgotten much of
what I learned about navigating the Catalyst side of the house. But through
repetition I'll pick that back up quickly. It may only be good for a few
points, but if it makes the difference between a 78 and an 80, I'm sure it
will have been worth the extra effort...

Regards,

Scott
