I definitely wouldn't want to leave any aliases on the devices. It
certainly won't help your score any.
Having extra configs in the devices can be a good/bad thing. If you
can't figure out how to do something and it will effect multiple parts
of the lab later, and you have an alternative method of doing it (even
if the instructions say not too), I suggest doing it, and just losing
the few points for the unallowed config, vs. losing all the points
because everything down the chain that followed wouldn't work either.
(That is probably the longest sentence I've typed; ever!)
