Hi
I believe I understand NTP authentication fairly well. When I do it as
follows on dynamips, it works perfectly,
Client Server
R1------------------------------R2
10.1.12.0/24
R2
clock set ....
conf t
ntp master 2
ntp authentication-key 1 md5 CISCO
R1
ntp authenticate
ntp authentication-key 1 md5 CISCO
ntp trusted-key 1
ntp server 10.1.12.2 key 1
I have done this same installation in IE Labs on two occassions and failed
to get the client to synchronize with the server (NTP server was a BB
router).
With the command "ntp server 10.1.12.2", the client is able to synchronize,
without authentication. I tried removing and returning the authentication
key CISCO, thinking perhaps it was mistyped. Didn't help.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and how was it resolved?
TIA
Ben
