Is it just for the 9x PCs or for NT compatibility?

Are the later versions of MS operating systems (2000/2003/Longhorn - TBA)
still using WINS? Last time I checked it seemed so. I was surprised. I
recall it being just an NT thing. Tombstones, p-nodes, m-nodes and lots of
fun like that.
