Re: Lab Scheduling Confusion

Does that make me a "Starwars Lamer Type"? I moved my date once (see
below). I'm a little bit insulted (not much, but enough to write this
email) by the suggestion, based on the amount of material on this lab,
that people who drop their dates aren't serious or can't afford it.

I found having a deadline critical to my motivation and the scheduling of
my study time. I was originally booked for August 31st. In late July
after completing the Cisco Assessor labs and reviewing my position, I
dropped my date and picked up September 25th, after a few days of hitting
the CCIE scheduling site every morning. I passed on my first try. I'm
sure most people drop dates for exactly this reason: they want to be
ready for date X, but work and personal commitments as well as the volume
of stuff to know for the lab doesn't always allow it.

The fact is, lots of people want to complete this certification and Cisco
is having trouble keeping up. I think anyone who has tried agrees that
getting a date within a month or two is just a matter of refreshing your
browser every morning until a date pops up. Identifying your readiness,
estimating the date you should write based on this, and adjusting that
date within the constraints of the system are just part of the preparation
process.

If I may provide a general commentary to this list... some people have a
tendency to generalise in their posts (i.e. all proctors suck, or all
people who book early and drop a lab are "lamer types"). As with any
public forum or email communication people should think carefully about
what they write, realise it is going to appear in the public record, and
be very specific about who they are aiming their flame at.

I await your directed flame emails :)
