Actually, the question states 'how do i make the
router generate a dhcp request packet to renew its
ethernet interface ip address every 3 hours'
Therefore the router gets its own IP address via DHCP,
and you want to instruct it to genereate a dhcp
reuqest every 3 hours.
The solution I had was to use 'ip dhcp client lease'
under interface configuration.
