Hi all
I am seeing a weird behavior running pim in lab 8 IE workbook ver 4, I
wonder if some of you guys might saw it too, basically the task asks for 2
rps and one MA , R1 should be RP for the even multicast addresses and R2
should be the RP for the odd ones, so the MA will be the one having deciding
who is RP for each group , my config is the same as the solution workbook,
the weird thing that im seeing is that R1 is sending the RP information
however when R3 replies with RP info to all its pim neigh the update does
not get to R1
Check the debug on R3
*Apr 21 01:09:44.615: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on Serial1/2 (2
RP entries)-----**`s1/2 is R1 connection*
*Apr 21 01:09:44.615: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on
Virtual-Access1 (2 RP entries)
*Apr 21 01:09:44.619: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on
Virtual-Access2 (2 RP entries)
*Apr 21 01:09:44.619: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on
Virtual-Access4 (2 RP entries)
*Apr 21 01:09:44.619: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on Ethernet0/0 (2
RP entries)
*Apr 21 01:09:44.619: Auto-RP(0): Send RP-discovery packet on Ethernet0/1 (2
RP entries)
I have the debug running in R1 too ( deb ip pim auto) im not seeing the
reply however on R2 I do see it ( virtual access )
If I go to R2 and check the rp mappings, they show correct, ( R1 being the
rp for events and R2 being the rp for odds)
Is like the link the serial interface in R1 connecting to R3 were not
listening for the MP replies, if you wonder if there is a pim neigh form ,
yeap its form .
Any ideas will be great, I tried to move to sw2 being the RP for the even
it works but again R1 does not see the replies from R3
The link between R2 and R3 is basic point to pointo hdlc encap link , no
acls , nada!
R1
interface Serial0/1
ip address 174.6.13.1 255.255.255.0
ip pim sparse-mode
clock rate 64000
R3
interface Serial1/2
ip address 174.6.13.3 255.255.255.0
ip pim sparse-mode
end
if you wonder if ip pim autorp listener is on, yep its on.
thanks for any ideas
