Looks like:

^54$ means: route contain only one AS, i.e. AS 54

_54$ means: Any AS which ends in 54. In another words, route originated
by AS 54.

E.g. suppose AS contains 100 200 54

Then, second example will match this critera.

And,
If AS contains only one AS 54, then first criteria will be matched.
