Dear,

The default behavior of area x range command to only send the summary
address and suppress any more specific within the range.

using the Not-advertised attrubite on the ABR will stop the ABR from send
the summary AND any more specific within the range address and LSA-type 3 to
other areas.

For example if the ABR sending 40.40.1.1/32 from area 1 to area 0 and u use
(area 1 range 40.40.0.0 255.255.0.0 not-advertise) the ABR will not adverise
40.40.1.1/32 or even any prefixe within 40.40.0.0/16
