I did all that stuff too Gary. I think Novell still has a pretty good
product in directory services although I don't know anybody using it since
AD came more mainstream. I do like SuSE Linux as as well as anything
(except for their package manager) and have always found their support
better than most, including Redhat, which blows in this area. I think
Novell has to find a way to keep riding the storm out. Linux is on the rise
albeit a slow rise and I realy think as MS keeps bloating that Moore's law
will eventually catch up to it and then Linux/BSD will start leaping. Until
MS makes it possible to run the base kernel OS with the crap GUI then it
will always lag behind in performance.
I don't do much with systems these days but I do setup and run BSD/Linux
boxes for my own Network team services as well as my personal use at home
(Debian Sarge server). If I could have run the 2.6 kernel on my server I
would have looked at SuSE.

Does anyone on the list work with Novell or see any potential for growth on
the Novell SuSE side of things in the years ahead?
I'm asking here as I know many of us came up through the MCSE NT and CNE
days and some folks may still have a handle on server technology
particularly the people holding down senior technology posts in shops.
Thanks
