Even though you say "no" at the prompt, it will still write your config
to flash...it simply won't clean your flash before while it does so.

All,

Regarding saving multiple "running" configs locally on a router/switch
using the IOS commands, what method do you take?

In my lab, I have a 7206 which seems to cleanly accept a 'copy run
ospf1' and vice-versa whereas a 1710 / 3640a / 2651xm (running 12.4)
cannot do so without asking me if I want to erase the flash. Can
anyone shed some light on this?

Joe

------------------------7206------------------------------------
bb1#copy ospf running-config
Destination filename [running-config]?

948 bytes copied in 0.148 secs (6405 bytes/sec)
ospf#

------------------1710-------------------
r1#copy 1111 sta
r1#copy run 1111
Destination filename [1111]?
Erase flash: before copying? [confirm]n
Verifying checksum... OK (0x34B7)
1153 bytes copied in 10.376 secs (111 bytes/sec)
