I have read some packet articles and I think some IPJ articles on
IOS-XR. Just understand how the architecture of the OS is laid out.
Same for the CRS-1. Just understand architecturally. Packet archives
have a couple of articles on it.
The SP Network Structure and Components is easy. Understand PEs, Ps,
CEs, the "edge," the "core," the concept of "central services," etc.
There are some good networkers PPTs on this. Also "MPLS and VPN
Architectures" volumes I and II talk about this.
I have downloaded RFC3439. It is straightforward. Take some notes,
make some flashcards. Its not a protocol specification. BCPs can all
also be downloaded. Download any of those that are security related.
BCPs are actually RFCs that are "tagged" as a best common practice.
I bought the METRO optical book from Cisco's website, I think that will
cover what I need to know about the various optical platforms.
All-in-all I think this is a couple of weekends (maybe three) to take
some notes and make some flashcards.
Also the SP groupstudy list is still working. Join that.
Good luck.
