The strongest foundation is a good understanding of the protocols...
I got 100% on qos points because I read Wendell Odom's QOS exam
certification guide and lab'd up all the types of qos configuration.
I also did 2 days non-stop hands on re-doing all the questions in the IE
WB's.
Security is quite tricky for the R/S. I know for a fact they pull questions
from the Security lab and throw them on the R/S lab. You will have to read
up Security as far as the R/S is concerned in the Wendell Odom CCIE R/S
Study guide and use the extended blueprint posted at IE.com
