I don't know which vendor book you are referring to.
All CCIE numbers are hard earned. While it's true there is more choice these
days in terms of availability of workbook material the lab has changed a lot
over time and we still have many people requiring multiple attempts to get
through no matter how many lab books, videos and what have you that they
purchase.
Getting the CCIE is not easier than before. The agricultural approach of
pouring over huge books in the written list and practicing CCO and Cisco
Press scenarios is as valid today as it has ever been. Perhaps with all the
choice these days that is lost on a few people. Vendor books are not
designed to teach you fundamentals.
