Hi Sergey
In practise, PIM-SM does not quite build (*,G) only. From receivers to RP,
it initially builds (*,G). From source to RP, it initially uses unicast
traffic encapsulating the multicast stream, then the RP builds (S,G) to the
source. After SPT threshold is crossed, the path from receiver to RP also
reverts to (S,G).
PIM-DM only uses (S,G).
PIM-bidir used shared trees from receivers to RP, as well as from source to
RP.
I trust this sums them up, but comments from the elders are welcome.
