If we're talking Mobile IP itself here, I consider it DOA. No native
support for even a modest level of security. Sure, you can bolt IPSec onto
it, but that's exactly what you're doing is bolting. Also, when you really
look at high availability and scalability options where Mobile IP is
concerned, you'll be sorely disappointed. DMVPN/NHRP is where to go for
mobility these days. LOL, I had a Mobile IP question for Cisco a while back
and when I finally got hooked up with that core group, what I got was
something to the effect of "we don't get many calls on this anymore, let us
get back to you." They did and the answer, as expected, was "you are
correct in your understanding that Mobile IP does not support xyz and we do
not anticipate adding support for such." For example, build redundant Home
Agents and then kill one. Everybody fails over. Now bring the original HA
back online. What happens? Absolutely nothing! Unless you reboot your
mobiles, that is...

Actually we can't tell you anything about the lab; its NDA protected...
But why not just learn it? It's about 3 hours to lab up within reason.
Could ever see a need for it in the real world?

Can anyone tell me if IP Mobility is currently tested in the R&S Lab. I've
seen a couple posts that indicate it has been removed. Thanks
