FR end-to-end keepalive; Backup interface

R4's s0/0/0 connects to R5's s0/0/0.54 p2p

R4's S0/1/0 connects to R5's s0/1/0.

Frame relay end to end keepalive is configured on both sides.

I found out that if I configured "backup interface s0/1/0" on R4's s0/0/0
interface. The backup is not activated when I shut down R5's S0/0/0.

If I configured "backup interface s0/1/0" on R5's s0/0/0.54 interface, the
backup int is activated when I shut down the other side.

Does backup interface has to be issued on p2p interface for the e2e
keepalive to work?
