I haven't tried this and, I haven't
configure|administred a DHCP server in a few years
but, I wonder ...
Could you use one dhcp server and create two
scopes (as you did previously). Each scope has a
different default gateway address.
Then tie half of the hosts MAC addresses to an IP
within one scope and, the other half in the second
scop. When the hosts request an IP, they'll bet
the default gateway of the scope they are assigned
to.
I realize this requires some manual "work" upfront
but, you will still be able to administer these
hosts via DHCP.
And if you use a Unix or Linix box as the dhcp
server, the files can be edited very easily en
mass becuase they are text files.
If it turns out that you need two servers, by
running linux, you could run it on hardware you
may already have lying around unused.
i.e.,
host HOST-1
{ hardware ethernet 00:01:02:47:5f:59;
fixed-address 10.192.136.105;
}
host HOST-2
{ hardware ethernet 00:01:02:63:43:92
fixed-address 10.192.136.87
}
host HOST-3
{ hardware ethernet 00:01:02:63:44:a0
fixed-address 10.192.136.207
}
The MAC addrs can be gathered via one of the many
ping sweet tools. The Angry IP scanner (for
Windows) does a good job of this, even with remote
networks. nmap will do it for the Unix | Linux
boxes.
