Real World: Point to point over ATM??

All,

Is it possible to run a point to point connection over a clear channel DS3
using ATM interfaces? I have a real world scenario where we have 2800
routers with NM-1A-T3 ATM modules. Can these modules be used for a point to
point circuit, or would we need NM-T3s instead?
