RE: Auto-RP Issues with NBMA Mode

        Another workaround for this is to force the auto-rp groups to be
sparse by configuring a default RP. For example in this particular design
you could set R1 to be the RP for both of these groups by doing the
following on all devices running PIM:

access-list 1 permit 224.0.1.39
access-list 1 permit 224.0.1.40
!
ip pim rp-address 192.1.1.1 1

        If you then look at the "show ip mroute" output on R1 you should see
that 224.0.1.39 and 224.0.1.40 are running in sparse-mode, which will allow
them to be affected by NBMA mode, which effectively allows the incoming
interface to be the same as the outgoing interface in the multicast routing
table.
