Hi Slevin,
  
  "area range" command is used for inter-area summarization and "summary-address" command is used for external route summarization. If R2 is an ABR, you may have to use "area range" and if it is ASBR and the route to be summarised is external, you may have to use "summary-address" under ospf protocol.
