Enable "debug ip icmp" on the device connected to the destination port.

Ping between 2 devices that has traffic flowing (in/out/both) the source
ports.

Remember SPAN will only see "Bridged" Traffic.

Subject: Testing SPAN and RSPAN configuration

Can someone tell me the best way to verify SPAN and RSPAN configurations
apart from looking at the configurations ? I am sure I can configure SPAN
and RSPAN correctly ( or so I hope ) but all my debug ip packet detail on
the desting port shows nothing ( yes, I have IP enabled on this interface ).

I saw in IEWB solutions guide they verified by pinging 255.255.255.255 and
checked the debug output on the monitoring router. I however believe the
router would respond snd show a debug to a ping if the destination is
255.255.255.255, which I verified.

If I do a unicast ping from a router on a monitored port, and try to debug
ip packet detail on the monitoring port ( both SPAN and RSPAN ), I see no
output whatsover. But I am pretty sure the config is correct, it's quite
basic really.
