IT OS A FETURE USED IN OSPF -
wherin if you have 2 routers in your n/w , through which traffic is flowing...now you want to remove a router for some reason ,,,,, use MAXMETRIC-lSA on that ..... The transit path through that router will have higher metric and won't be prefed untill other router is down...
