A diagram is pretty much the only way on a complicated lab unless you have a
photographic memory. I usually draw a 4 switch diagram (like they show in IE
COD), and then I draw the routers off of he switches in a colored pencil
color for that VLAN. If a Switch has a SVI on a particular VLAN, i draw a
single colored line off the switch for that VLAN. After I am done, I look to
see which switches have the same color, and add vlans accordingly. On some
of the IE labs, you really have to draw it out to prevent screwing up. Its
actually pretty quick if you get good at it.
