Well, don't you see it in another way that you can't really know how bad
a meal is until you taste it.
If you want to go through the configs before starting anything concrete,
then you are equally spending time there ... If you drive along and you
get stuck somewhere, I believe you would spend less time. Eg. Wrong IP
Subnet Mask, when you're trying to ping and it didn't work, surely you
could check layer1 all the way to layer3 in just under 60secs, init?
I'm not saying one way is better than the other, just expressing my own
view, which is at the end of the day, you will spend more time trying to
fix something you can't assertain it's broken. If you see a wrong ip
ospf network command somewhere, you don't just take it off just like
that before going through your configs, ofcourse you could read through
your tasks and then go through each line of 6 Routers and perhaps 4
Switches ... Even before configuring FR, now, how long do you think this
will take you? Even befor starting the real thing, huh?
Many Thanks
Yemi Salau

Thanks all for the replies. I will certainly get the courage for those
of
you who have done it for the first time and at least believe that is can
be
done. I have started my two weeks holidauy today =), to do nothing but
patch
up the loose ends and live in PODS !
I am told that the start up congis are loaded with intentional errors
for
the candidate to fix ? My question is : Is this always the case ? That
is,
should I start straight away start looking for broken configs or should
I
start assuming all is okay and only troubleshoot when something does not
work ? I dont want to end up in a situation where I am wasting time
trying
to find things that are not there.
Herbert.
