Protected port is useful if the ports that you want to protect are within
the same single switch while in private VLAN the two ports that you want to
protect can be in different switches.
In a private VLAN, apart from isolated port which can only communicate with
ports in Primary VLAN, you could also have ports in a community VLAN which
can communicate amongst themselves and ports in the primary VLAN.
