Check "show ip pim rp mapping" on every router, do you see R2's IP address
as RP for 224.0.0.0/4 ?

Subject: Basic multicast question

I am really confused with this one :(

R1----R4----R3----R2----R5

R5 has an interface joined to 224.24.24.24
R4-R3-R2-R5 has all interfaces configured for sparse-dense mode
R2 is configured as RP and Mapping agent

Quite straight forward configuration

Ping 224.24.24.24 gets no response from R5

Why outgoing interfaces null on R4 ? See below
I know I am doing something silly :(

R4#sh ip mro
