Found this:

DHCP Next Server Option

http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-dhc-nextserver-02.txt

I think the command is there but actually it doesn't do anything for you. At
least with a cisco router as a dhcp client.

OK, but you can specify multiple TFTP servers with option 150 as well...

If nobody is home at the primary tftp server's address (or it is down or too
busy to respond), it goes to the next-server and then the
next....redundancy.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know a use for next-server?

From the command reference: "Specifies the IP address of the next server in
the boot process, which is typically a Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP)
server. One IP address is required, but up to eight addresses can be
specified in one command line."

I know this doesn't work with IP phones, is this for PXE booting or
something?

Option 66 is for TFTP Server Name.

Try to use option 150 instead.

Hi Group,

I have configured a dhcp server in cisco 2950 with option 66 with the tftp
server ip address. But non of my cisco 7960 phones picking up the tftp
server via dhcp. They all get other information corretly via dhcp server.

What I am doing wrong?

Cheers,

CP
