Navin, the filter command is not meant to be used with 'vlan based' SPAN, it
is used for 'interface based' SPAN, for example:

int fa 0/1
  switchport mode trunk
  .....other stuff

monitor session 1 source int fa0/1

now to filter only the relevant vlans from that span source interface (since
its a trunk and by default it will send all vlan traffic):

monitor session 1 filter vlan 1-2,6
