I think the problem that a lot of us have is that we are just not used to
failing exams. We have spent our careers studying and easily passing
(thanks to studying hard) and then we hit this test which is so difficult
and different. Explaining this to friends and family is always fun since
they just see it as a failure and don't understand the CCIE is more like a
CPA or bar exam than a normal certification test. The good news is that we
are so busy and stressed studying we rarely see our family anyway. I have
attempt number 2 in early August so am definitely tracking with this thread.
