Wacky Regular Expression

This is from IE Lab 4:

show vlan brief | exclude unsup|^ |^1 |active[ \t]+$

I understand the goal of this command is to exlude output from the
show vlan brief command but am not sure what this part of the string
means exactly:
active[ \t]+$

Any ideas?
