I think it would be useful to have a special certification for the 6500
series; probably a written one. Or maybe there could be a lab-based
add-on for people who are already CCIEs.

Unless Cisco builds a lab specifically around the 6500 (in which case it
would become CCIE-6500), testing on it would end up being a test of some
fairly annoying platform-specific topics, kind of like when they had the
old 3900 series token ring switch in the lab (or the VG248 in the voice
lab).

It would be interesting to have a "data center services" certification
or something that specializes in stuff like integrating all the
different modules into complex designs, but Routing & Switching should
be just that--routing and switching.
