Tarun ---

No, we are still on the curious example showing that a "distribute-list
prefix <prefix-name> in" command actually filters the router's OSPF
database, contrary to what the literature says.

Moreover, that the filter discriminates between intra-area prefixes (which
it doesn't filter) and inter-area ones (which it does), thereby making it to
behave like the command "area <id> filter prefix <prefix>" which you
referred to in your link.

I invite you to lab up the original post and see for yourself.

By the way, Tarun, I suggest you leave the original post beneath your
replies, so that other's can more easily follow the thread.

Daniel

Folks,
Just for clarification, did we move away from distribute-list and
try area filter-list command? When you use distribute-list in command in
ospf it does not effect LSA flooding,But only effects the routing table. If
you use area x filter-list command in ospf on an ABR it filters type 3
link-state advertisements (LSAs) that are sent between *Different OSPF areas
*.
