Group,
I have a question abt Source based tree. Let us say that we have three
routers R1 , R2 and R3. These are fully meshed. R1 is the connected to
multicast server. R2 is the Rp and mapping agent. R3 is connected to the
Mulicast client.
When client behind R3 requests for the multicast traffic, it will point to
the Rp and in this case R2 will provide the multicast source to R3. Till
now I feel I am clear.
By default ,Once R3 knows the multicast soruce ip address , is it going to
send to Rp for reaching the multicast server ( Shared Tree) or is it going
to send the traffic directly to the mulitcast server (Source tree) ??
Also
Ip pim spt theshold
is it used for switching from source tree to shared tree or vice-versa. (
SPT stands for both source path tree /shared path tree)??
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Prem
