RE: Little things that kill

I went thru the same thing/phase and there are a few things I think that
could help:

1. practice, practice, practice. People don't mis-spell their own names
and there is a reason for it :). This will also increase your speed
which in turn gives you more time to check for and fix mistakes
2. write notes. Everyone makes stupid mistakes and there is no way to
prevent that from happening. The key is not to make the same mistakes
multiple times. This is where the notes come in. document the mistakes
you have made and review these notes periodically, which would help you
to avoid them in the future (for example, if you always forget "permit
ip any any" at the end of an ACL, you probably want to review the notes
enough times that every time you configure an ACL, you immediately ask
yourself "do I need 'permit ip any any'?"
3. verification. This is also very important and I learned it the hard
way :). Make sure you know how to verify each configuration task
doesn't matter how straight forward it seems. Do the verification
immediately after you finish a question and if you have time, at the end
of the exam

Subject: Little things that kill

I took a mock lab this weekend and scored lower than I thought I would.
I understood every technology that was asked. I just made stupid
mistakes like copy-paste errors, forgetting one command on a task, etc.
How do you guard against these kind of mistakes? I feel confident in
the technologies, I just need to be more thorough in verification, I
suppose. My payment date for the lab is fast approaching, and I thought
I was ready technology-wise. I still think I am ready tech wise, but
what about the details that truly make or brake the lab?
