It seems that when we trace a route from our Internet gateway, we get
all the routes along the way, but it seems that they are coming from one
AS.
Example:
66.165.160.121 [AS 6966] 36 msec 36 msec 36 msec
4 66.165.161.192 [AS 6966] 36 msec 36 msec 36 msec
5 66.165.160.86 [AS 6966] 176 msec 176 msec 180 msec
6 62.216.146.189 [AS 6966] 176 msec 176 msec 176 msec
7 62.216.128.117 [AS 6966] [MPLS: Label 100496 Exp 0] 168 msec 172
msec 168 msec
8 62.216.128.73 [AS 6966] 172 msec 168 msec
62.216.128.150 [AS 6966] 176 msec
9 62.216.145.54 [AS 6966] 308 msec 308 msec 312 msec
Now I know that this address space crosses many AS's. The trace below
is from our provider router (direct peer):
2 66.165.160.121 [AS 23148] 36 msec 36 msec 36 msec
3 t6-0-0.core1.mia.terremark.net (66.165.161.192) [AS 23148] 36 msec
36 msec 36 msec
4 g6-2-0.201.core1.mad.terremark.net (66.165.160.86) [AS 23148] 180
msec 180 msec 176 msec
5 62.216.146.189 [AS 15412] 172 msec 176 msec 176 msec
6 so-4-1-3.0.cjr02.ldn004.flagtel.com (62.216.128.114) [AS 15412]
[MPLS: Label 100496 Exp 0] 172 msec 168 msec 172 msec
7 so-5-2-0.0.cjr01.nyc005.flagtel.com (62.216.128.73) [AS 15412] 168
msec 172msec 168 msec
8 nileonline-gw-ny.flagtel.com (62.216.145.54) [AS 15412] 308 msec 308
msec 312 msec
Does anyone know what might cause this? Why we are only getting one AS
response back? The provider says it is not them causing this, but I
have my suspicions.
