The DNS server should not necessarily be dynmamic, that is, unless your
provider is making that change (which it appears they are doing). Are you
able to view the configuration of the cable modem? Can you contact your
provider and get further information?
One thing to check on your internet is try to access an internet site via IP
address only (not relying on DNS). By doing this, you can at least insure
that the internet access is working and your provider is having a DNS issue,
which may or may not be the case. HTH.

Subject: Help ! Dhcp / DNS Issue
Hey Guys, I Recently upgraded my internet from a DSL modem to a Cable
modem. Previously, while i was still using the DSL modem, i had my router
configured as follows (dhcp server) ; {pretty straighforward}
access-list 1 permit 10.10.10.0 0.0.0.255!ip dhcp exclude-address
10.10.10.1!ip dhcp pool DHCPnetw 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0default-router
10.10.10.1dns-server 192.168.0.1 --> "this dns is static, never
changes{issued by the dsl modem}" With the above config. i never had an
issue, all my workstations could connect to the internet. Current Issue
Since i got the cable modem, the IP Address of the DNS Server is not
static. it changes anytime the modem reboots, So, ***is there a way to
assign my workstation automatic DNS address ? Those of you with Cable
modem, how did you assign your wkstation a dns address ? Thanks !
